REVIEW UPDATE: He responded with more lies! There are many other owners that are likely honest and easy to use. He is a manipulative liar that will lie at will. PLEASE DON'T PLACE YOUR FAMILIY IN HARM"S WAY! MUCH OF HIS RESONSE IS VERIFIABLE LIES. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE CREEP! I DID SAY I HOPE SOMEONE DIES USING HIS RV BECAUSE IT WAS ABSOLUTELY A DEATHTRAP.DO NOT TRUST THIS OWNER!! RV WAS UNSAFE AND IN HORRIBLE MECHANICAL CONDITIONThis was an experience from hell. It started off horrible and continued to get worse and placed me, my family, and other motorists at significant risk of injury or death. If there was a way to leave a negative 5 star review I would. When we rented this POS I told James that this was our first rental and that he would need to show me how things worked. He said no problem. Sound helpful right? He was just setting the hook for one of the most horrible experiences of my life. When James arrived with the deathtrap, he showed me how to work the human waste drain and when he opened the valve human waste flew out and covered his hand. Not a great start. As we continued to do a walkthrough, he pushed the passenger side mirror against the RV which was a bit odd, but it will make sense in a bit. He told me that the cabin battery would last at least two days - more on that soon as well. He showed me how to use the controls to use the slide outs (but did not actually open them - again, more on that soon). We left for Boise the following day and before we left, adjusted the side mirrors. As we went down the highway, I wanted to change lanes and checked the mirror when my wife yelled, Watch out! I almost sideswiped a Amazon delivery van. It was in the middle of rush hour and could have caused a multi-car crash. Turned out that the passenger side mirror moved by itself. The nut that keeps it in place was completely stripped. We had to adjust it every 15 minutes or so. Crazy and extremely dangerous. We decided to continue on our vacation and see if we could figure out how to fix it. We drove to Boise from Portland (500 mi.) and ran into a snowstorm. We had to spend the night in a rest area as we could not use drive safely in the night. We turned on the heater, but the thermostat was broken and we only had two options - zero or 90 degrees! Up and down all night as we got either too hot or too cold.In the morning we heard a buzzing sound in the cabin and frantically tried to figure out what was going on. Turns out that the cabin battery lasted less than 8 hours before alerting us that it was about to die. I started the RV and we were ok.When we finally arrived at our campground in Boise, we opened the rear slide out and then tried to open the front slide out but the controls did not work. Annoying but not dangerous. We decided that we would not be able to drive the RV as it was unsafe. We looked at renting a car in Boise, but there were none available. I called James and told him what issues we were experiencing.James said he would look into it and when he called back said that there was a hex wrench inside the cabin that could be used to tighten the mirror. I looked at the wrench and there was one hex that was extremely rusted. I went outside to tighten the mirror and the entire nut on the mirror frame was rusted and stripped. He knew this already of course as the wrench was completely rusted and the nut completely stripped. We had no option other than to return home in an unsafe vehicle that had so many usability issues that it would have made a great setting for a Stephen King novel. As we drove home, we were using the electric outlet in the front slide out and the power supply just stopped. No iPads, cell phone power, etc. Poof! We just sat for 500 miles. No light so we could not read a book, play cards. Just sitting. As we continued our way back to Portland, we noticed the arm for the awning on the outside of the RV started separating from the exterior. When we got home we saw that there had been multiple holes punched into the side of the RV in an attempt to secure the awning arm.My hands are sweating as I type this and remember the trip. Freaking crazy. When we got back to Portland, we looked at the indicator lights for the septic and the indicator lights did not work.We had a half-tank of fuel left in the tank but decided to just park it and be done with any more driving particularly in a city environment. We had to cancel our trip early and we expected James to refund a significant portion of what we had used. He refunded the unused days but did not budge on any additional refund and then he charged us for the half tank of gas.All this time I had been in contact with Outdoorsy and they said to work with James - he lied again and said that he did what Outdoorsy told him to do. Not a chance that was truthful.I waited to post this review because I wanted to make sure that my reaction was tempered.Bottom line, he is a pathological liar that intentionally put me, my family and other motorists in a very dangerous situation. He was so brazen that he said, Well you drove the vehicle for 1,000 miles so you must not have been that concerned. We honestly did not have any other option to return home.We have pictures of everything in this review and we also took a video that shows how the mirror would not stay in place. Please feel free to contact me at tony@alrconsulting.com or 503.602.1662 if you want a link to the photos or video that we took.
Keeley and James’s answer
Hello Antonio, we are sorry your trip did not go as planned. We dropped off the RV and walked you through how everything works and all the unit specific things. This is where we spoke about the front awning not working due to previous damage. We also sent you a video of the walk through previous to the booking to help familiarize yourself with the unit and we mentioned the front slide out not working. There were no damages to the mirror or the awning when we dropped the RV off. You also signed off that there were no damages. We would not rent our RV to anyone with the mirror falling off or the awning hanging off. We pushed the mirror in that way they were not sticking out into the street or the sidewalk as we parked the RV on the street in front of your house. When you reported the mirror being loose, we mentioned the toolbox in the back of the RV that might have a hex tench that would fix it. (This is after we did the research to find out what was needed to tighten the mirror). When that didn’t work for you, we asked you to call 24/7 roadside assistance as this was a huge safety concern and you denied wanting to use their service. The RV can boondock for up to 2 days without needing power or starting the engine. This depends on how much power you were using in the cab. There is also a level (when we showed you) that shows what level the batteries are at, that way you can manage when they need a charge. We were very communicative with you and were trying to work with you to keep you and your family safe. You decided to return the unit early and drive 500 miles without having the mirror or awning fixed. Outdoorsy has the 24/7 service for instances like this that might come up during guest trips. We felt since you deinied wanting to have someone come out and fix mirror and awning, we wouldn’t give you a full refund. We worked with outdoorsy support to help us through your situation as you were threatening us the entire trip.Once you messaged us saying you hope someone dies in our RV, we had Outdoorsy take over the communication with you.Again, we apologize your trip didn’t go as planned and we did everything we could to help keep you and your family traveling and safe. We also had outdoorsy reach out to you to help with the entire trip.
