The RV itself had potential, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing due to multiple preparation, maintenance, and communication issues.When we picked up the RV, it was dusty inside and out, and one tire had very low tread, which raised safety concerns. The dashboard also showed that maintenance was 276 days past due, which was concerning given the condition of the vehicle. To his credit, the host did refund one day of the rental and the prep fee after we reported the dirty condition and tire concerns, and he stated he would take responsibility if the tire required repair.However, several other issues remained unresolved. We discovered that the fresh water tank was already about one-third empty and the waste tank still contained waste, creating a strong odor throughout the RV. This was especially frustrating since we had paid fees for water filling and waste removal. The refrigerator also had a strong sewage-like odor, which made it unpleasant to use. These issues were reported, but we never received a response regarding the water tank or waste concerns.Several features did not function properly, including interior fans and cooling efficiency due to damage to the ceiling vent area. The air conditioning struggled initially, and the generator made a loud squealing noise when starting. We were also informed at pickup that the water tank had a leak, which had not been disclosed beforehand.There were also concerns regarding fees. After initially attempting to book another vehicle with this host that he later said was unavailable, he directed me to this RV instead. At that point, a short-notice fee was added that was not part of the original Outdoorsy booking, and this fee was not refunded.Communication was inconsistent, and we were asked to communicate outside of the app instead of within the platform, even for urgent issues. After returning the RV, the host did not check in the vehicle for nearly a week, which caused unnecessary concern. We were also instructed to drop off the RV at an unsecured location, which felt uncomfortable.Overall, this rental caused significant inconvenience, and I would strongly recommend confirming the condition, maintenance status, and readiness of the RV before booking.
