SUMMARY: This rig is exceptional for agile exploring with a small and easy to handle footprint, great gas mileage, easy setup, and includes most of your necessities. However, communication with the host left a bit to be desired. DETAILED REVIEW: The rig was setup well, thoroughly clean (and odor free), and handled well. Pickup and drop off was self service and quite simple and David was flexible with pickup and drop off times. David’s cancellation policy is also quite flexible and although we found the cleaning and setup fee to be higher than other comparable rentals, it was clear that the host made cleanliness a priority. Communication was often quite delayed and didn’t quite address our concerns both in the weeks leading up to our stay and during our stay, and that was the biggest challenge for us to the point where I felt it necessary to deduct a few stars. It would also be helpful for renters to know that there is no fuel for the stove or water in the storage bag and you’ll need to bring a car charger for your devices. Setup of the tent was quite simple and David did provide a video to assist, you’ll want to get access to this while you have service and not wait until you get to your destination. One crucial fact that wasn’t included in the instructions is that there is a right way to attach the ladder that isn’t as obvious as it probably should be. The attachment arm that connects the ladder to the roof is rigid when connected the right way, but can easily be flipped unknowingly so that it doesn’t lock into a rigid position causing it disconnect when enough weight is applied. It held up to the good old test of stepping on it with half my weight but ended up collapsing when I was halfway up the ladder. I would recommend triple checking this because the ladder was pre-connected before we set up the tent and was actually connected backwards. With improved communication, listing details, and setup/pickup/drop off instructions this would be a solid 5 stars.

There was no better way to experience the wild of the Yosemite and west coast than with David’s vehicle and roof top tent! Very accommodating with all questions, providing plenty of camping gears to make the best camping experience possible.
We went for 8 days in the Yosemite and then to the coast (weather was getting too cold for camping at 7000 ft). We enjoyed the roof top tent for its quick installation, very comfortable sleeping conditions. And the car is much easier to drive than a big RV in curvy roads.

Subi was very well outfitted for camping -- everything we needed, including a super ice chest that kept a lot of stuff cold with one bag of ice for 5 days in hot weather. Table was great to have, as were the extra chairs. Be aware that although the car has 4 seatbelts, by the time you put in all the camping gear plus food, there's really only room for two people. We had some trouble with setting up the tent so make sure you get clear instructions from David or get him to show you.

David Gonzalez did not disappoint! The extras were great: Chairs, table, ice chest, water, stove and more :) The tent was easy to set up and very comfortable. David answered all of my questions timely. The subi drove like a dream.
