Originally booked the van for 4 days. 2nd-5th but it had to be returned by 5pm. Asked host if I can return it late that evening. He then stated that he wouldn’t be able to book someone else the next day if I came late.
I asked if I could pay a fee to return late, as I saw that you can pay a fee and pick up early, 4 hours earlier for $30. I booked this added service.
I thought paying a late fee wasn’t asking for too much.
No response.
The trip had come closer so I went ahead and booked an extra day. Adding $500+ to the fees.
Trip day comes.
Host did not have van ready.
Rang the doorbell at the location and he greeted me with “I thought you were picking up at 11am?”
Asked to give him 5mins.
Came outside warmed the van and asked if he could have time to clean it, with broom and pan, in hand.
Walk around of the vehicle. Lug nut missing in one wheel of the vehicle. Cracks in the windshield. Inside Drawer broken, I personally had to tape it shut because it was opening and closing while the van moved. Tire pressure needed attention. Main headlight on passenger side was out our whole trip luckily didn’t get pulled over. Battery on the remote was dying, took awhile to read the key to start.
That’s how we got the van.
Started my trip about 2 hours late because it wasn’t ready by the host.
Everything was documented before and after trip.
Trip went well with the van while in our hands.
Returned it 9am the morning of the 6th.
Did not use it the whole day.
Outdoorsy and host still charged the whole day.
Had to wait outside for host to wake up the day I returned it also.
Rang doorbell multiple times at different time frames to try and reach out. Sent messages in inbox.
Tough to reach. Communication and attention to detail.
Over priced and over charged. But the world is that way today. Up charge everything and put in 1/4 of professionalism and standard.
