Overall, communication before the trip was good, and the host was flexible with the pickup time, which I appreciated.I would not describe the trailer as being in terrible condition, but it is definitely not in great shape. Aside from one of the doors not functioning properly, there are quite a few cosmetic issues. To be fair, most of those issues are cosmetic only, and I still would have rented the trailer had they been accurately reflected in the photos. The condition itself was not my main concern. My issue is with the additional charges.A day or two before the trip, I was offered add-ons for prepaid tolls and prepaid propane, both of which I declined. I declined the toll package because I have a SunPass account, and I verified that the tolls from this trip were charged directly to my account. I declined the propane package because I understood propane to be an optional convenience item, mainly for pre-cooling the refrigerator before arriving at the campground and connecting to shore power. The listing states that included amenities are:* Private bathroom with hot water and RV-safe toilet paper (starter pack)
* Fridge, microwave, stove, and ovenBased on that description, I reasonably assumed the propane necessary to operate the stove, oven, and hot water system was included. When I picked up the trailer, the propane tanks were already installed. I specifically asked the host about this, and she told me she would "give" me the propane. The trip itself was uneventful. I returned the trailer on time and in good condition. Before returning it, I wiped down the table and kitchen surfaces with Clorox wipes and washed all dishes. To my surprise, $50 was withheld from my $500 security deposit as a "prepaid toll fee." To be fair, there is a statement buried near the end of the listing mentioning this charge. However, platforms like Outdoorsy provide a way to include mandatory fees directly in the booking cost breakdown, which many hosts do. Mandatory fees should be clearly disclosed during checkout rather than hidden within the listing description. I requested an itemized toll statement but was not provided one. As mentioned earlier, I verified that the tolls were already charged to my SunPass account. In addition, the host informed me that she contacted Outdoorsy support to charge me separately for propane. This is the same propane add-on that I explicitly declined before the trip, the same propane that the host told me she would "give" me at pickup, and the same propane required to operate amenities that are advertised as included with the rental, such as the stove, oven, and hot water system.Had these charges been clearly disclosed upfront and included in the booking price, I could have made an informed decision before renting. Instead, it feels like I am being charged after the fact for items I either declined or reasonably believed were already included in the rental.
