Camping. Connection & Experience. It’s what we're all about. Built out of our love for thrilling experiences in the wild, our rentals are tailored for people looking for something a little more unique. Our vans are the ultimate getaway vehicle because they’re pre-packed. Our renters don’t have to deal with tent poles or with staying dry, it’s just pop up the top and you’re camping. Because it’s so easy, it’s that much more appealing to get out and go. Part of the adventure with a van is changing plans on a whim and going to places you’ve never been. It may sometimes be slow and seem like it's not very exciting, but a Westfalia makes people smile and dream, more than any other camper can. We're confident you'll enjoy them as much as we do.

Who doesn't fantasize driving a vintage VW van? I think for most, it is a pleasure to use one as well as all the thumbs-up one gets. However, there were a couple things were not up to parr. One, was we had no internal water pump. Mike left us with the impression it happened the day we were to take the vehicle, but a previous user who left their review in the glove box mentioned the problem. Also, our auxilliary Jackery battery, while at a 100% charge when we took the van, was at zero by late afternoon and our Dometic fridge was no longer ketp things cold. We opted not to use the built-in fridge, (our choice). We were not able to resolve this and as we were overnighting without access to AC, managed as best we could. Third and this is a suggestion to Mike. Finding a place to fill-up the propane was not easy. We went to three stations in Nanaimo (formerly in service, but no longer) leaving us to and ask Mike where to go in Vancouver. Mike, pls dont' require the renter to fill-up propane. Build it in as a free service.

A few quick points of clarification on the items you mentioned:
Water Pump: The pump issue did indeed occur right before your pick-up. We had no prior record or notification of any pump failure from previous renters, as we prioritize vehicle condition and maintenance above all else to ensure everything is running smoothly.
Auxiliary Power: We equip our vans with multiple power packs specifically to handle backup power needs. Switching to one of the secondary packs would have kept your Dometic fridge powered through the night without needing AC access.
Propane Refill: Standard rental agreements require guests to return the vehicle with the fuel and propane levels equal to when they were picked up. Because usage varies greatly from trip to trip, building propane into the rental rate isn't practical, but we'll work on providing a clearer list of active local refill stations to make that final stop easier for future guests.

Are family had a very worderful summer vacation and experience in the retro VW camping van. The van was very cozy inside and it was very well equipped with everything you need. In fact, we sort of over-packed, yet there was still enough room for four people.
Though, tall people beware, you will probably hit your head one or two times until you get a sense of the dimensions :).
The owner was very responsive and answered may of our questions and concerns. It was a fun experience driving an old vehicle. So do make sure you give it TLC when operating it and pay attention to the vehicle walk-through.

We’re thrilled with our experience renting from Camp Junkie! Our little space toaster 💜 made the drive from Vancouver to Tofino extra special. Mike was amazing at coordinating with us, accommodating our schedule, and keeping things flexible, which made our trip stress-free and super enjoyable. The van was spotless and had every amenity we could think of. We especially loved the trail of ambient lights inside. It really shows how much care and thought goes into these vans. You can tell they’re truly meaningful to the owner and well-maintained. I highly recommend Camp Junkie for your next road trip or adventure. We have made some unforgettable memories. Thank you, Mike!

I had the most incredible time road-tripping the Rockies with this van! It was super well equipped and came with everything you needed and more! Mike was also super helpful with any questions I had on the road, making it very easy to feel comfortable driving, cooking and sleeping in the van!

I had a great experience with the van, it’s very well equipped, everything is there, you just have to put your suitcase in it. The van is perfect for British Columbia I had no problems. Then the hosts are very present and communicative, thank you again !

what a delight to drive and camp in these vans. Big enough to live out of for many days, small enough to drive around town and park in standard spots in the parking lot. Also, sips gas versus the larger modern camper vans.
Perfect for hoping around the Whitsler area staying in campsites along the way. Our family of four got a lot of thumbs up and smiles every where we went! I would highly recommend Camp Junkie, they were very accomodating.

Camping with this Westie was a real adventure. We had incredibly hot weather to rainy days, with everything inbetween. But the van was great and so was Camp Junkie. With these old Westies you really need to take things as they come, and understand that it's all a part of the experience when things don't go perfectly according to your agenda.

I recently rented Camp Junkie's VW Camper for six nights and was really pleased with the experience. The camper was well-equipped, offering the essentials for a camping trip. The interior was functional and comfortable, making for a pretty decent journey overall.
