This was the first, and last time we'll rent an RV from Outdoorsy. Our trip was cut short by 4 days, as there were so many problems with this RV.
No heater, we were in Valdez and Denali and froze
Refrigerator freezes food
Front and Rear shocks are shot
Black water tank valve leaks
I contacted Thomas through Outdoorsy about these unactable and unsafe conditions of the RV, requesting a partial refund, and have not heard back. Only our deposit was refunded. This is not how respectable people do business. We expect compensation, because of problems with this RV, we missed a fishing trip in Seward and flew home early.

Thomas’s answer

Hello Cindy and Dave,
I am sorry that these items happened on your trip.
During the demonstration of the RV, all items were turned on and shown to work. We were unaware of any issues with the frig as it worked fine all season and not one freezing incident reported. We will check the sensor operation on the frig and repair as needed.
The RV was driven by a mechanic and he indicated there was no problem with the shocks but that frost heaves can be really large and cause issues. We will look at getting the heaviest duty shocks available installed.
Even though we supply free RV toilet paper with rentals, regular toilet paper or other objects sometimes gets stuck in the valve. We will replace or repair this valve. No other renter reported a problem and we saw no evidence prior to your trip. Sorry about that.
We tried very hard to locate an experienced RV mechanic to look at the heater. When you contacted us, you were going to stay one day in Valdez (5 hours away) and we could not find any available technicians to work on it on short notice that day. I made sure that you knew we would reimburse for any extra comforters if needed. We were then going to see if we could get another technician to look at it along the way, such as Glenallen, but then you said on Mon 7/25 " We are now at Denali, We will be fine without the furnace". We did not hear back from you until 7/27 when you wanted to return the RV early.
As soon as we could I refunded the security deposit and credited you for the days not used. Unfortunately it takes 3 to 5 days to reach your credit card account. I did send you a copy of the invoice the next day noting the credit.
Please note that we work hard to keep all these items repaired and in tip top condition so you do not have to worry about these items, but sometimes things fail on your trip or sensors get bumped off fins, or someone flushes a pad down the toilet, etc. We try to respond in person when possible but when you are a moving target and 5 hours away we have to rely on local mechanics and their schedules.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope it goes much better next time.
We plan on upgrading our fleet next year with some newer RV's and camper vans as they become available.
Tom

The suspension needs to be checked or replaced - bouncing 3, 4, and even 5 times after a frost heave on the Parks and Sewards Highways was stressful. Could not trust it’s handling over 50-55mph on most of the roads. Blinds with missing handles, broken pieces, mostly impossible to adjust. Screen door latch broken. Cabinet doors that wouldn’t clasp. Main entrance door very hard to latch and lock. Hot water knob in shower worked only half the time. Never found a plug for the kitchen sink to do the dishes. Sensors in the Grey Water, crapper, and LP tanks showing inaccurate amounts. Missing armrest on the passenger seat. Emission light that doesn’t go out. The crapper tank leaks through the exit valve so that when you remove the drain cover to connect the hose, shit water pours out on you.

Thomas’s answer

Hi Steve,
I just read your review.
Sorry about all those issues.
We will look into every one of them.
As an example, all h=those items were checked and working at the start of the season. however this season has been extremely hard on the RV’s withback to back rentals with no down time. Sometimes when you get a family of six or eight , things breaks and unlike you, they do not tell us.
The check eng light is likely a gas cap or some other nuisance code. The toilet valve is a new issue, thanks for bringing it to our attention. We will get a new one installed. Sometimes renters use the wrong toilet paper and it gets jammed in there sometimes. This regular toilet paper also catches on the sensors and causes false readings. Etc. We will check and repair all the other items on the list
We normally get no complaints and normally get 4 and 5 star reviews as we fix all these things in between rentals. Thank you so much for bringing these to our attention.
I tried upgrading our rentals with newer units in the first part of the season but could not find any good replacements due to unavailability or over priced units due to COVID,
Hope you have made some good memories. Have a good day.
Tom
