Meet the spunky and sweet Boxcar, named after a ski run on Aspen Mountain in an area called 'The Dumps' where silver miners made their fortunes in the 1800's. The newest addition to Aspen Custom Vans' rental offerings, this van is perfect for two people. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. The fully stocked kitchen is great with a splash of color and the pull out fridge is perfect for grabbing a cold one on the go. We provide a propane camp stove so you have the choice to cook inside or out. There is a large amount of storage under the bed, with easy access to all your larger gear from inside the van. The queen size bed has reading lights for late night route planning and a super comfortable mattress. This van has simple systems, is easy to drive and perfect for either a quick weekend getaway or an ultimate road trip.
What's includedWe provide a fully stocked kitchen for two (utensils, cookware, crockery), 2 x camp chairs and a propane stove with one propane canister to get you started.
We ask that you bring your own bedding.
RecommendationsAspen and the Roaring Fork Valley is the perfect jumping off point to see the Western United States.
Locally, our valley is home to some of the most gorgeous hiking, biking and fishing adventures around. A short drive over Independence Pass takes you to Twin Lakes and Buena Vista, a rafter/kayakers paradise. You're then only a few hour drive to Santa Fe through the gorgeous San Luis valley.
A little further afield, we are a 3.5 hour drive from Moab and Canyon country, so many of our renters start a southwest trip there. Moab, Bryce, Zion and Grand Escalante make a good round trip route over 4 - 6 nights.
Further afield, you could make it to Jackson Hole in about 9 hours and the Wyoming and Yellowstone wilderness your perfect playground for a 7 - 14 day trip.
Other things to noteWater is only available for summer rentals.
There is no hot water available.
This van does NOT have a heater so if you are renting in the shoulder seasons, you will need to bring appropriate bedding.
You may drive the van on graded dirt roads only. You may not go off road as there is not enough clearance.
Pets are welcome, but if we have to spend more than an hour cleaning dog hair off of the bed, we will charge an extra cleaning fee.
No festivals, please.
Definitely no smoking.
We ask you to return the van in the condition you found it. There are cleaning supplies provided. No need to wash the outside.
A note about waiving our minimum rental nights: our minimum rental is 3 nights. We cannot accommodate renters for less. Please do not ask us to do so as it puts us in an uncomfortable position to have to say no.

What an amazing trip! We took 'Boxcar' to Moab for a fall weekend and had a wonderful time. The van drives great and has all the amenities you need for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend of camping. I'm 6'1" and slept great in the wildly comfortable bed too! 100% recommend you take this van on your next adventure, unless I have it rented already!

The Boxcar is perfectly sized and appointed for two. You can parallel park the van in a regular parking space, the bed is super comfortable, and the thing drove like a champ over a two week tour of the Pacific Northwest. Kimbo and Jason were super easy to work with and very accomodating in our picking up and dropping off of the van. We would rent again.

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host
Q.Does this van have a heater?
A.
No - this van does not have a heater in the back. It just has the vehicle heater. Please bring your own bedding and plan accordingly in the shoulder seasons.
Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
We are generally quite flexible with enough advance notice. We will not do hand offs or returns in the dark under any circumstances. Get in touch and we are always happy to try and make it work!
Q.Do you provide bedding?
A.
We do not provide bedding. Please bring your own. We find that most people prefer to do this anyway.
