The observatory is owned and operated by a family trust and located south of the city near the Sutter Buttes Mountain Range. Visitors will be impressed with the entire facility. There is one nine foot dome for the brilliant scientists who study astronomy. There is also an 11 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The focused study using the observatory includes planetary, deep sky, NEO studies, photometry, and astrophotography. The observatory is operated by a trustee appointed by the family. The facilities were established in September of 2010. The staff at the observatory hosts star parties in order to get the people in the community to be excited about the sky above them at night. They focus is on providing educational programs for members of the community. All the members of the community and visitors are welcome to these special events.
