Discover Beaumont, AB
Beaumont is located in Alberta, Canada, just south of the city of Edmonton. Situated between lush boreal forests and temperate prairie, this city is the ideal home base for RVers looking to explore the wilderness of Alberta or relax in the city. Head to Elk Island National Park in the summer for watersports or hiking among the elks and bison, or make the trek to Marmot Basin in the winter to experience some of the best downhill skiing in Canada. When you’re finished traversing the Canadian wilderness, head into town for some rest and relaxation in this small suburban town. If you book an RV in Beaumont, you’ll be able to easily enjoy all that the Edmonton area has to offer.
The Great Outdoors
Beaumont is surrounded by lakes, creeks, and rivers in the Aspen Parkland, a transitional zone between Canada’s thick boreal forests and its expansive prairie grasslands. In the summer, the area is a hub for water recreation, hiking, and a variety of other outdoor activities. If you visit with the Beaumont rental motorhome during these warmer months, check out Elk Island National Park, which is famous as a refuge for bison and elk. Hikers can choose from 11 different trails of varying difficulty; we recommend the Lakeview Trail for an easy, scenic stroll or the Tawayik Lake Trail for a challenging hike among the elk and bison. The park also offers a full slew of watersports, and you can rent canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards on site.
Once you’ve explored Elk Island, head due south with the Beaumont rental RV to Miquelon Lake Provincial Park. This park not only has plenty of hiking trails, but it also offers guided interpretive hikes and farmers markets. Keep in mind that these parks can be crowded during peak seasons, so plan on a few crowds in the most popular areas of these parks.
Alberta’s heavy snowfall also makes it a hub for winter sports. Wintertime visitors to Elk Island can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. You can also find some of the best downhill skiing in Canada in and around the Edmonton metro area.
If you want to stay close to the city with the Beaumont RV rental, check out the Snow Valley Ski Club or the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Both ski areas have multiple downhill skiing and snowboarding trails as well as on-site lessons and rentals. Experienced skiers and snowboarders, however, should head west into the mountains to visit Marmot Basin, a massive ski area with over 3,000 feet of vertical drop. If you rent an RV in Beaumont in the winter, keep in mind that roads outside of the city can be treacherous during heavy snowfall, so you may want to leave your rental RV parked when you head out on winter adventures.
Although there aren’t any RV parks inside Beaumont’s city limits, you’ll find plenty of scenic RV campgrounds surrounding the area. The Devon Lions Campground, the Leduc Lions Campground and RV Park, the Centennial Park Campground, and the Rainbow Valley Campground are all options near Beaumont.
Devon Lions has campsites with a wide range of hookups available from completely unserviced to a “prime site” with 50-amp power, water, and sewer. It may be important to note that the campground requires a minimum stay of two days on weekends. It also has a canoe landing on site.
Leduc offers a similar array of sites and amenities to the south of the city. If you want to camp along scenic Lake Joseph, consider the Centennial Park Campground, but be sure to reserve your spot during peak seasons. Rainbow Valley is in the opposite direction inside Edmonton’s city limits, making it a convenient location for urban explorers.
If you want to get farther into the wilderness, check out the Lindbrook Stargazer Campground and RV Park in Tofield. This peaceful getaway has full hookups as well as plenty of on-site amenities, including a heated pool and a playground. The Elk Island Retreat is another scenic option for RV campers looking to explore the national park. This full-service campground has a mile-long trail on site that leads to a small pond, called Lake Slou-ise. Or, if you like to golf, consider the Deer Meadows Golf Course and RV Park. With your Beaumont rental camper, you’ll have plenty of RV park options to choose from.
