My name is Justin. I am the owner of a very cool 1990 Ford Econoline, with solar powered Goal Zero Yeti 1250. This van has everything going for itself; a bit of retro, and a bit of modern. The interior will remind you of your grandma's living room (the blue velvet captain seats, the electric sofa bed, the small analog television, connected to an actually functioning VHS player, and the thick blue carpet), whereas the Goal Zero solar generator and roof solar panel will unmistakably bring you back to the 21st century.

Originally converted in a camper van in a rural town of Manitoba back in 1990, we purchased the van from the original owner in 2014. We have since been taken care of the vehicle as we do a child. Our van is like a family member to us. We have been maintaining it diligently since we purchased and have spent thousands of dollars a year in maintenance and repair. Therefore, the chances of you having a seamless trip and smooth ride are pretty high!

What's included

-Parks Canada Discovery Pass & Alberta Parks Kananaskis Conservation Pass
-Solar-powered Goal Zero Yeti 1250 & solar panel
-Camping equipment available (includes brand new Woods Blaze gas stove, cutlery, coffee mugs, plates, pots and pans, etc.)
-Extra floor mattress

Recommendations

Canmore is the home of beautiful scenery and many fun activities! The town is minutes away from Banff National Pak, Kananaskis Country and Bow Valley Provincial Parks, five world-renowned ski resorts and six breath taking golf courses.

Areas nearby the area include Banff, home of Sunshine Ski Village, Lake Louise which has many turquoise lakes and the Victoria Glacier and finally Field, located in heart of Yoho National Park.

Other things to note

Please note that this vehicle is not meant to be driven on a gravel road. Please respect maximum speed of 105-110km/h, even when highway driving. This vehicle is not meant to be driven fast. This is an older recreational vehicle, with a solar panel on top of it; not a newer camper van you can do 120-130km/h on the Hwy with. If you have a heavy foot, refrain from renting this vehicle. Plus, the faster you drive, the more expansive it will cost you in fuel.

Snowy/icy road notice: Please note that this vehicle is equipped with all season tires. Vehicles will perform better in the snow with snow tires rather than with all-season tires - which is not the case for this vehicle. Being a rear drive axle, it is super easy to lose control when stopping, turning or altogether driving on snowy or icy surfaces. For your own safety and to prevent from getting into an accident, highway speed of 70km/h max is recommended on snowy/icy road condition. Believe me! I speak from experience driving this vehicle in the winter on Hwy 2, between Edmonton and Calgary in snowstorms.

Many mechanical upgrades were completed since I last booked this van, including a brand new set of tires and new seals, which has significantly improved traction and fuel consumption. It's great to see an owner who cares about the renter's driving experience and re-invest the money they make in the vehicle. I have seen a 20-25% improvement on fuel consumption, and its a trip I make often and an itinerary that I know quite well.

Justin's RV is not only fun to drive, but it is sturdy, always clean and in good mechanical shape. This is the 10th or so time that I rent it for a work trip to Valemount, BC - as I work as a contractor on the TransMountain Pipeline project - and it reliably brings me from point A to point B. I like the fact that I am free to sleep wherever the day brings me and anonymously crash and rest wherever I end up. Renting the bike rack was quite useful, as I was able to ride at Valemount bike park one last time before the end of the season.

Justin and his wife were amazing hosts! From the time we got there they were so incredibly accommodating and great with keeping up communication. The camper van had no mechanical issues at all, it got us to Banff, Jasper, Yoho, and Kootenay. It’s great that it has two fuel tanks, avoids filling up as often. Overall, great experience!!

Excellent service de Justin-Claude qui est super accomodant. Automobile livré très propre avec de l’équipement qui permet d’économiser $$ sur les repas. Je recommande fortement!

The owner is super nice and the communication worked perfectly. We were given some things for free, like a camping cooker and dishes.
The car is old but works and drives well. It consumes a lot but if you know, you can drive a little slower.

This is the 3rd or 4th time that I rent this vehicle, to go on work trips to Valemount, BC and it delivers each time. Great price for the type of vehicle it is, especially since hotel rooms in towns that I go through (Lake Louise, Jasper) to reach Valemount are 300$ or more a night. I would rather have a house on wheel, sleep in some of the most beautiful campgrounds, and make my way to my destination slowly, but surely.
