Chattahoochee Bend State Park is a state park in the northwestern part of Coweta County, Georgia. The county as a whole is in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metropolitan area. Interstate 85 is a main thoroughfare through the county, connecting Coweta County to other parts of Georgia. The Chattahoochee River runs through the county, and the park is named for a bend in the river where it is located.
From Chattahoochee Bend State Park, visitors who rent an RV in Coweta County are able to reach Atlanta in about an hour. Columbus is also about an hour away, while Montgomery and Birmingham, AL, are around two hours respectfully.
The climate in Coweta County is pretty typical for many parts of the Deep South. It’s a humid, subtropical climate with hot and humid summers. The winters are mild. Snowfall is not unheard of, but it’s not terribly common. It rarely snows for very long in the area.
Coweta County was named for the original Koweta Indians who had several towns in the area. They are a branch of the larger Creek Indian tribe. The county was officially incorporated in 1826.
