2The night before our trip, the host contacted us to let us know that the 2023 class C we had rented was not available due to needing a part replaced. I get these things happen, so it wasn’t a big deal, and the host had an alternate 2017 Class A that we could rent. The RV was nice and had the same layout as the original RV we rented. When we arrived at our campsite and the weather heated up, we immediately smelled the rankest ammonia smell coming from the bathroom. The first night, we couldn’t even sleep in the back bedroom. I dumped the black tank on day 2, despite it having hardly anything in it, but the strong ammonia smell did not go away. We had to run the generator excessively to keep any kind of air flow to assist in mitigating the sent. That night, the smell was so strong, my son experienced a bronchospasm, requiring EMS to come to our campsite and provide a breathing treatment. A few hours later, we ended up in the ER, where my son received further treatments. The exterior TV did not work, the keurig leaked water, and the god-awful smell made this a highly unenjoyable and incredibly expensive trip, The host was super nice, and I don’t think any of this was intentional. However… what we rented versus what we ended up with are on far ends of the spectrum. This was my weekend to convince my wife we needed to buy another camper… and that is NOT happening.
