It wasn’t a terrible experience, but it wasn’t a great one either. The RV was not turnkey-ready, and it wasn’t communicated in advance that we would need to complete several setup steps ourselves. Before our trip, I specifically reached out because our first RV rental through the app had similar issues, and I wanted to confirm everything was in working order. I was reassured that it was, which made it even more disappointing when that wasn’t the case. For example, we had to find a water source and fill the fresh water tank before we could use the bathroom. We also encountered several unexpected issues, including a broken awning and an external generator that was not full of gas. The generator shut off around 1:00 a.m. after only about six hours of use, which was especially concerning and disruptive. Because the fuel tank was hidden under the cover when we picked it up, we had no way of knowing it had not been filled. We were also never able to get the TV working. It required connecting to our personal hotspot, and even after trying that, it still wouldn’t function, so we weren’t able to use it during our trip. Communication after the rental was also a little difficult. We had trouble reaching the owner the next morning while coordinating drop-off, which added some unnecessary stress. None of these issues would have been major dealbreakers on their own, but together they made the experience more frustrating than expected. The RV itself met our basic needs, but with better preparation, removing the unexpected surprises and clearer communication, the experience could have been much better.
