Hans’s van is the perfect Van for Maui. From all the vans we rented on the different islands, his van and service was way above our other experiences. Hans picked us up from the airport, and very detailed and through went through everything on the van, so when I got behind the wheel, I felt that I new the van inside and out and was ready to got take the van on a adventure and not have to worry about the van and how it functions. The van has a diesel motor and a 500 mile tank, so the power torque is there and no need to keep your eye on the fuel level. Our friends has another van with the stove and sink etc. on the inside, and they even said they wished they had the room ours had in it, along with all the outdoor cooking options that comes with the van. This can is perfect if you just want to fly in with your clothes, snorkel, and board, hop in the van, drop by the grocery store and go get lost. Thank you for having the vehicle for our unforgettable life adventure, Hans! We really appreciate it!

We had an awesome time in Big Red cruising around Maui! Hans was great, he was quick to respond to messages and was helpful with finding a permit office when we had to purchase camping permits.
This van is big but it’s easy to get the hang of, and being a diesel we got great mileage and had plenty of power. If I had any critiques about the van it would be the lack of airflow. We were only able to roll down the front 2 windows and at night when we were camped at Papalaua it got HOT. So it would have been great to have a ceiling vent/fan or some little rechargeable fans. The other critique would be the locks but Hans runs through that before he sends you off on your way. They are a bit finicky so you just have to check the doors are locked before leaving it and you’re good.
Aside of those things, this van was great, we drove it from Kahului to Lahaina, then did the entire road to Hana, camped at Kipahulu down in the national park, and then drove around the southern tip to get to the summit of Haleakala. After that we drove back up to Lahaina area. We spent 3 days in Maui and didn’t need to fill up gas at all. Another pro of having the sprinter was the vertical space, being able to stand up and get things setup and organized was a great luxury.
We had a great time and would rent from Hans again in the future.

We rented Hans’ Sprinter van for 9 days in January and really had a great time in it! It was very easy to drive and handle (surprising for its size and length!), had LOTS of power (no problem driving up Haleakala!) and VERY roomy! Hans had kitted out the van with pretty much everything that we needed for our 9-day camping trip, including a propane stove and propane canisters, hibachi with a big bag of charcoal and starter (wonderful for grilling our fish dinners every night!), cookwear, dishes, utensils, cutlery, chairs, table, wash tubs and buckets, cleaning supplies, 5-gallon jug of water, TWO coolers, magnetic lamps to stick to walls of van for lighting, charger, paper towels, toilet paper, plastic baggies, etc. AND the van came with a VERY comfortable queen size bed with all bedding, pillows, extra blankets, bath and beach towels. Hans was great to work with - responded quickly to our messages, was very flexible with our pick up and return times, and is just a really nice guy to deal with! We would book with Hans again without hesitation (and hope to do so again sometime!) and we can happily recommend Hans and his campervan to others wanting to hang out and experience the island of Maui from a different and fun perspective ! Than you Hans for a great experience!

This vehicle was awesome for exploring Maui, rain or shine, whatever weather, we were comfy and self contained. Super comfortable bed, all the cooking supplies, dishes etc and neat and organized, safe and securely stored for travel. So nice to be able to stand up and walk around inside. with all the rain that happens there, it was a great option. Handles the roads well, super economical on fuel ..tho only thing that I didnt love was that it is tall and doesn't do great in the high winds, it's like a sail, got to fight the wind to stay driving straight in your lane, mainly bad between Lahaina and Kihei . I avoided driving the bad stretches of highway when it was real windy. Its tricky in tight parking lots.. gotta plan ahead before you pull in somewhere! Shes 22 ft long.. Im comfortable and confident driving large vehicles, not everyone is.. Use common sense. We found places to camp , roadside, beachside, for free, that was hard packed sand, suitable for this vehicle. Such a sweet ride and a nice guy to deal with. Thank you Hans!! Cant wait to come back!

I’d like to start of by saying that the host, Hans, is an incredible guy. Super considerate, timely communication, understanding, and an overall genuine dude. Now, the sprinter van was amazing. It has its quirks, but also has everything you need: a comfortable bed, all the supplies possible, and is a fabulous drive. It did great on the Road to Hana and everywhere else. Highly recommend!
