We are the Walkers — a family of five — Sean, Brianne, Reid, Weston, and Layne. Our adventure seeking kids were born with a need to Explore and Enjoy the great outdoors. If you know their dad, Sean Walker, you also quickly know where their “let’s go!” gene originates. Sean loves the thrill of finding something new and discovering unfamiliar terrain. He grew up camping and always knew he wanted his family vacations to include this raw, unplugged experience. Brianne, on the flip side, enjoyed the comfort of hotels and cabins so it was a bit of a stretch to imagine camping with infants and toddlers … but she did it.
Until 2015, the Walker family spent fun days and long nights sleeping in tents and bunking up in their in-laws trailer camper. Yep, newborns, toddlers and all the mess you can imagine without a camping “home”. So when Layne (the youngest) was born in 2015, Brianne was done co-habituating on vacation and told Sean if they wanted to continue this adventure they needed their own space. They started with a 24 foot Coachman Futura - gutted it, remodeled it and fell in love with it. Camping was now a whole new experience. And like anyone’s first home there was attachment from the memories and scenery viewed from that very first camper.
As the family grew so did the need for more space. And let’s be frank, Layne needed her own bed. So the flipping began. They bought a bigger camper that needed customization. Sean designed and built a 3-bed bunk bed, installed new flooring, countertops, cabinets… and Brianne had the joy of selecting all the details like paint color, upholstery, faucets, lighting and décor. The camper looked like any old camper from the outside but when you stepped in it felt like Home. Friends and family were amazed at the end result and begged to rent it.
And that’s how our Walker Campers story began. It was organically grown. More and more friends wanted to experience the joy of camping like we did, and we were grateful to share a space to create lifelong memories. So we bought another camper and another, and now we’re up to Camper #5. Each camper has its own unique style and space. We’re currently renting Camper One and Two while Camper Three is being demo’d and remodeled. The process is a family affair with grandparents, kids and all of us doing our part to make each trailer a Home.
We love watching families enjoy a weekend away and bond over memories no picture can capture. We truly believe there is nothing better than relaxing and exploring God’s incredible landscape with the people you love the most. Our kids count the days until our next trip and end every trip saying “this was the best trip ever!” It truly does only get better and better. You can’t buy happiness, but you CAN rent a Walker Camper and create some joy of your own. Welcome to our (camping) Home.
