This is our raised roof family camper van. The Get-Away is easy to drive and floats down the road easily. It has cruise control, A/C, and a Bluetooth stereo. It sleeps two comfortably and has the ability to sleep smaller children in the bunk or custom made front bed. The fridge/freezer runs cold and eliminates the worry of food going bad or getting soggy in a cooler full of ice. The stove runs on propane and can be used for cooking, but we boil the kettle for coffee to wake up before setting out to cook outside. The awning sets up easily with two people and offers protection from the sun or rain. There is lots of storage under the benches, in the very back, and overhead(dishes, cookware, supplies - are in these) - so bring what you want. There is a 4 bike rack in the hitch that can be included as well. The van runs on gas and averages about 17L/100km at 110km/h and does slightly better when driving slower at Park speeds.
Pick up during the week should be after 4:30pm because of my work schedule. Exceptions may be possible if planned in advance. Weekend pick up times are more flexible. Delivery of van is difficult and offers less flexibility and I would charge for 2 peoples time and two vehicles fuel cost. Calgary and Edmonton are both over 2 hours round trip.
What's included
The van will come with almost everything you need, except bedding. BBQ, stove, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, chairs, axe, battery powered lights, roasting sticks, matches/lighters. We camp in this routinely and will be leaving in everything that we use. If you think you’ll need something, just ask and chances are it’s there or we can provide it. Our camping needs may be different than yours, but we likely have the gear.Recommendations
We take this van everywhere, however we ask that it not be used off-road. The van is best suited for 1 or 2 people but we have created a folding board that goes across the front seats that a child can sleep on. Our daughter is 9 and that is her “bedroom”. Ask about it if you have kids and are interested.Other things to note
Our preference is that the van stays in Alberta, but exceptions could be made under the right circumstances.Pick up during the week should be after 4:30pm because of my work schedule. We're just your average campers. We bought a van for ease of setup and mobility, plus we refuse to buy a truck so a trailer was out of the question. It has been great being able to share camping with our daughter whether tenting, in a family trailer, or in the van.
