5.0David was always available to assist with any questions we had, both before and during our trip. The Mercer Chateau was everything we hoped for, and accommodated all our needs for our nearly 2 week trip through the Great North West!

2.0Overall, this is an older RV with several age-related issues prospective renters should be aware of. While driving, there was a noticeable smell of diesel fuel inside the cab, and the transmission slipped intermittently. The interior couch is heavily worn, with the original vinyl peeling and covered by an aftermarket slipcover. If you need to use the seatbelts on the couch, the cover has to be removed, exposing the deteriorated vinyl underneath. The most significant issue involved the awning. The awning motor, which appears to be old and weak, failed while we were at our campsite, leaving the awning extended and preventing us from traveling. I had to purchase tools from a local hardware store and manually free the motor to retract the awning. This unexpected delay caused us to miss our return flight and return the RV at the airport instead of the host's home. After the trip, the host charged us an additional $200 for airport pickup and another $200 for an awning repair. We do not believe the awning charges were justified, as the awning failed due to what appeared to be an existing mechanical issue, and we returned it in the same operating condition. These charges, along with fees to change our missed flight and to stay another night at the hotel, cost us over $800. The host also claimed that we failed to empty the black and gray tanks. We did empty both tanks before returning the RV. The RV does not have a leveling system, so if it is parked on uneven ground, the tanks may not drain completely. If any residual liquid remained, that may explain the host's observation, but we did complete the dumping process before returning the vehicle. If you're considering renting this RV, I would recommend doing so with the understanding that it is an older coach requiring more patience and flexibility than a newer model. Be prepared for mechanical issues that the host will likely charge you for.
