Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

Bordered by eight states in the heart of the Midwest, Missouri is named after the Missouri River that flows through its center. It’s been inhabited for at least 12,000 years, evidenced by mounds dating from the Mississippian culture before European explorers arrived in the 17th century.
Missouri played an important role in the western expansion of the United States, as well as hosting several conflicts during the American Civil War. The state’s major hubs of St. Louis and Kansas City became important centers of industrialization following World War II while providing a setting for the development of ragtime and locally-distinctive jazz and blues music styles.
Missouri’s geography ranges from the forested highlands of the Ozarks to the river bluffs of the Mississippi and the karst caves and sinkholes that lie below. It experiences a humid continental climate that’s marked by hot, wet summers and cool to cold winters, not to mention severe thunderstorms due to its location along Tornado Alley.
