Responsive, helpful, and accommodating hosts
Mike and Steph are highly praised for their communication, flexibility with scheduling, and providing valuable trip suggestions. They thoroughly explain camper systems and stock the vehicle with many essentials and thoughtful extras like sleep masks and hiking poles.
Handles tough Alaskan roads well
Blue is a robust truck camper that handles Alaskan roads, even rough ones, with ease. Its low-profile pop-up design makes it easy to drive and set up. Features include a comfy queen bed, stove, sink, heater, toilet, and large gas tank, ideal for boondocking. A minor fridge issue was noted in hot weather.

5.0Steph was great showing me RV, how to set up and take down. I had some personal issues that caused my trip to end sooner than planned. She was very understanding,, flexible and is planning to give me a refund.

5.0Blue is awesome. Drove fabulous. Couldn't even tell there was a camper on top. Made it up the Dalton then back to Denali with no problems. Makes me want to trade the f150 for a f250. Anyway Mike was fabulous, explained everything. Couldn't have been a better experience-except we ran out of propane at the end but it was cold a night and I cooked, so it was our fault. We had Blue for 8 nights.

5.0Hosts are fantastic. The camper was clean and well stocked on necessities. This camper was easy for me as a single person to set up and take down. Everything worked as expected. I will be using them again in the near future.

4.0Working with the hosts was great- very responsive to messages and flexible when we ran into some flight delays. They have suggestions on itineraries and have everything you need included with the camper - camp chairs/table, cooking stuff, towels, campfire supplies, and more. That was great! We literally had everything we needed except for one small cooler we borrowed from a friend so our six pack would be ice cold. To my surprise, we needed the heater a couple of times overnight so that was a pretty great thing to have. Driving this camper was also no problem (admittedly, my husband did all the driving), but after a little time getting used to such a large truck, he said it wasn't a big deal. It ran like a champ and we never had any concerns despite its age. Having a large gas tank is really nice too. Being unrestricted from gravel roads gave us endless options. We ended up taking it on the Denali Hwy and were able to camp along the way which was an amazing experience. We didn't go far off the main road, but did take a wrong turn that was very rough but it wasn't really a concern. The biggest challenge we had was going in reverse or turning around (not a limitation of the camper of course, but just a learning curve thing). Setup and takedown is super easy and the "pop-up" nature of it probably makes it easier to handle than other camper trucks. We liked that low profile b/c we never had to worry about being too tall. It also has cassette toilet which looked fine although we opted not to use it - BLM sites have great facilities and in-between we just did as campers do. It is an older camper and we had a few issues with the camper itself, the major one being that the fridge didn't work well, but that wasn't really an issue until it got hot while we were in Fairbanks. If we had known, a larger cooler and some ice would've been all that was needed and it would've been totally fine. But this would definitely not deter me from renting it again and is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I was a little nervous with this type of "lodging" and transportation, but all I can say is DO IT! We put on just over 600 miles in 7 days and loved that this allowed us to be totally flexible and make our itinerary based on the weather. We only booked one thing ahead of time (Denali NP) and it was no problem at any of the BLM sites we saw. Such a great experience.
