2Overall decent experience, the van is definitely older than presented on the pictures and we had lots of trouble with battery charging and electricity and ended up eating outside and work from cafes more than we wanted. Due to erosion something broke and we waited 3 hours to have it repaired. Annoying during precious holiday time. Also when we picked up the van, which was not in person, the water tank was not filled up and also one tire was flat. Another 2hours where we needed to prep the van ourselves, before we could leave. The host is super responsive and tried to help, but when it came to really understanding the situation and the frustration to have all those issues during a vacation, it was not great and also he left us on read for the ask of reimbursement and now we need to file a case with outdoorsy.

5Great van!! Everything worked as expected-- water heater led to warm showers, water tank is large, and we barely needed to refill it for a 2-night camping trip. Very spacious inside, and lots of storage!

5Went on a spectacular 4th of July trip over 3 nights to Lassen and back! Christian was super responsive, we were able to find some spots and work from starlink, and we enjoyed staying in the RV. The inside feels much bigger than it looks, comes with some nice amenities, has plenty of space and we actually got better sleep in the RV & outdoors than we did back in civilization

5Christian’s van is awesome! Set up very thoughtfully with everything you need for an adventure short of your consumables. I took the van down the pacific coast highway a ways before heading back up to Yosemite for a bit. 3 nights of boondocking felt luxurious in this rig. The indoor / outdoor shower was perfect, and the addition of Starlink meant I was able to take a necessary work call on the road. If I’m ever back in the area for a similar trip this will be my first choice!

5We had an amazing experience with Christian and his incredible van! Christian was an incredible host and very responsive. The van ran smoothly and we had no issues during our trip. The outdoor shower was a highlight. We will be renting from Christian again! Highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions
Q.
Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
It is a pretty big rig, so make sure you are comfortable driving a large vehicle. That being said, it drives very easily and comfortably, but avoid narrow streets and big cities - duh, you're probably looking for national parks and quiet getaways. I give everyone a 20min introduction to all functions of the van, with that anyone can enjoy this beauty to its fullest potential.
Q.
What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Generally very flexible, just communicate with me early and I'll try to make it work. Pickup in Oakland or I can deliver it anywhere in the SF Bay Area, just give me a heads up so I can arrange for it.
Q.
How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
The good news is, you don't even have to, it all works out of the box! You can plug into shore power if you want to, but the batteries and solar should keep you going off-grid in most situations. Plus, you can charge the batteries while driving, if it is ever not sunny. Then again, its California so enjoy the sun and let it power your trip.
Q.
Can I charge my computer and other devices?
A.
Yes, more than that. 500 Ah of batteries will keep you going for a long time. You can heat water for 1-2 people (short camping showers) and still cook a tasty breakfast on the induction stove top. The California sun will recharge your batteries, so extended remote work sessions or remote National Park stays are no problem at all. Your biggest worry will be that you'll have to give the van back at the end of your trip :)
