I had such a fantastic time in this lovely vehicle, it drove like a dream and Peter was so accommodating and communicative.I have never used an RV before but have been curious about vanlife, so a pandemic-safe road trip seemed like a great opportunity to test it out before committing. I felt a bit insecure about all of the gadgets and how to operate a home that's essentially off the grid. I can say now with confidence, that if you've never used an RV before and are considering vanlife or nomadic living, definitely rent one before you jump in if you are able. The first couple days, if you've never been in an RV, can be kind of intimidating trying to figure out all of the systems. Choosing to rent a newer, manufacturer's model with full amenities like the Solis is the right way to go for your first experience. Peter went through everything with me at the onset, but it's difficult to retain all that information so quickly - you have to just live in it to truly figure out what is what and how to use it - so having an owner's manual and videos I could pull up proved critical. Peter very kindly offered to be available if I had any issues, and was extremely responsive when I absolutely could not figure something out, but it was so helpful to be able to look up what I needed when I ran into something I didn't know how to do. Having read other people's experience renting custom-built vans, and having now experienced all the water and power technicalities that , I can see how not having some sort of owner's manual to reference would be massively problematic when trying to figure out how to do something. The water pressure both in the kitchen sink and shower were fantastic, and when the water was set to "hot," it was HOT. I was a bit freaked out about how to use and refill the propane and also how and where to empty the grey water tank and cassette toilet, but I eased my way into all of it and again, thanks to the manufacturer's youtube channel it was manageable to figure out.All of the USB ports came in super handy, and I never had to worry about the cabin power with the solar panels. If you are planning to work on the road, you do need to understand something I did not: the outlet power is not generated through the solar panels - you need to be connected to an external power cable (shore power) or use the generator in order to use appliances or power your laptop. The bed was super comfy as were all the seats in the front area. The kitchen was standard but had everything I needed to prepare food, including the mini-fridge and propane burners.By the 3rd day the system felt completely intuitive and I had a better sense for how much water and propane I was using as well as how to better conserve it, so I found I had more mental capacity to just enjoy the journey. Really allow yourself time to figure it out, and definitely pick a really lovely vehicle like this one to get your feet wet with RVing.
