What's includedThis rental includes 100 miles per PAID NIGHT with additional miles charged at $0.45 per mile. It is highly recommended that you stop often and try to limit your daily driving to 1-2 hours at most. I am assuming you chose this option because you want to see beautiful scenery, enjoy lookouts, and walks in nature.PLEASE NOTE: There will be a $75-300 cleaning fee (taken out of security deposit) if the vehicle does not come back in the same condition in terms of cleanliness. Please sweep, vacuum, wipe down, and sanitize all surfaces prior to returning. Not available for Burning Man or other type festivals. Not able to go off road. Typical gravel roads maintained by parks departments are fine. Go slow and avoid pot holes. This van is fun to drive. And with the high-powered Subaru engine it is capable of keeping up on the interstate. Please keep in mind that this is a unique vehicle that requires more attention than a modern vehicle. You will need to keep an eye on the gauges. And keep in mind that when going over mountain passes or steep grades it WILL slow down from 65 mph to maybe 50-55 mph. This is normal. Please do not push it too hard.Included Kitchen Equipment (happy to customize this for you too):- Saucepan- Frying pan- Cutting board- 4 mugs- 4 large plates- 4 small plates- 4 bowls- 1 medium mixing bowl- Misc. cooking utensils- Knives- forks/spoons/butter knives (4 each)- Can opener- Wine opener- 2 Camp Lighters- 2 medium sized Rubbermaid bins (great for dishes)- interior tableOther optional equipment (see add-ons):- 2x camp chairs- 2" memory foam mattress with washable cover.- Bike rack (up to 4 bikes).- Adult men's cruiser bike available for rent (see add on)- Rear tent - This basically creates a small room off of the back when the hatch is up. Great for using as a change room or a fun place for kids to sleep and hang out.I have a lot of camping stuff. Ask me anything about camping gear in case I have something you need that I forgot to list here.Pets are welcome with prior approval. Please message me before you book so that I can discuss this with you.Pick up is flexible. I'm a working professional.Propane and gas will be full when you pick up. Please fill gas tank prior to drop off, but not the propane. If below full you will be charged $6 per gallon (taken out of security deposit). Propane is included with rental fee.RecommendationsWe are in San Francisco, which is a great jumping off place for the coast, and forest. The state park system is amazing. Happy to give you recommendations and tell you more about my family's favorite spots. Other things to noteNo smoking. No festivals. Pets on approval. Please research all your camping options prior to securing this vehicle. Nothing more disappointing than to have a rental with no place to camp.I work full time so please be flexible regarding pick up and drop off. Message me if you require a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday pick up.

I'm a songwriter and music therapist. I'm married and have two really cool kids. My favorite trips in the Westy have all been along the coast. The northern California coast up into Oregon is just breathtaking. We all enjoy a nice long weekend in the Westy and believe you would too.

Scott has done a wonderful job restoring his VW! We drove from SF to Eureka and it was smooth sailing the entire way. Driving up Route 1 in this van was a dream. The van felt very mechanically sound and was a joy to drive. The interior and exterior are basically in mint condition - it will turn heads. Scott's communication was great, and there were instructional videos provided. We found the van really easy to use and quite intuitive. If you love these vans and slow road trips look no further.

Outstanding 4-day weekend to Mendocino via Anderson Valley! Scott’s Westie was perfect for us as a belated anniversary chariot and Scott himself was a pleasure to meet - accessible, organized & thorough. We loved every minute of our trip and his Westie was a treat to drive.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in Scott's van! The van was exactly as advertised, and Scott was a pleasure to work with: personable, prompt, and helpful in all our interactions. Also, we opted for the extra mattress pad slept wonderfully all week. We would highly recommended this add on!

We had an amazing 3 week experience with our eight year our daughter. Scott's Westfalia is clean, reliable, and had lots of "bells and whistles" that we loved (a refrigerator, outlets to charge our devices, solar panel, etc). Scott was super helpful and accommodating before we arrived, during, and at our departure. We look forward to our next California adventure in his Westy.

Scott’s answer

You are most welcome!

We had a wonderful time with the Blue Westy over the 4th of July weekend. I'd grown up with a similar bus and it was a real joy to share some of the same experiences I'd had with my daughter.
For her age, the bus is in great shape. Scott's extras (pots, plates, and utensils) are thoughtfully selected to make it very easy to pull over on the side of the road when you find a great view and enjoy a snack or meal. The pull down bottom bed and popup top make it easy to set up camp.
The only thing that didn't feel like our original Westy was the upgraded engine which made easy work of the steap hills.
If you're looking for a VW campervan experience she's the real deal and Scott's done a great job and making sure you know how to use all the features and you've got everything you need.
