Alma the adventure van, 2023 Solis 59P NPF Edition w/ Starlink internet

The RV worked great. We had lots of snow on the trip. It handled it well. It was also very cold out, but it was toasty warm inside during the night.

The owner was very helpful. We couldn't figure one thing out. We called her. She answered immediately and explained exactly what to do.

My partner and I had rented a 2023 Winnebago Solis NPF edition from Reverie Camp Co. for 8 days this past November to drive down the Oregon and California coast while spending Thanksgiving in San Francisco. Reverie Camp Co. is operated by Meghan and Joe.

The good. Both Meghan and Joe were gracious in meeting with me prior to picking up the van to do a walkthrough orientation of the van's systems and get all the paperwork out of the way as well as enabling us to pickup the van the morning of our trip.
Meghan and Joe has done a good job including things like bedding, utensils, coffee cups, cooking pots/pans, etc. The van is brand new, so all the amenities inside the van is shiny and new. The rental price being on the upper end of other comparable camper vans in the area is representative of this. However the van being new came with an apparent curse.

The not so good. The "beeping". On the very first night when we were settling in for the night after a full day of driving we were hearing a series of "beeping" coming from the dash of the van. Upon further investigation, a "Service passive entry vehicle will not shut off or restart" message would briefly flash across the dash with a prominent audible "beep" 13 times. After a google search and texting Meghan we have both come to a conclusion that this was not something we could easily fix. So for 5 nights, we were subjected to ~13 audible "beeps" every 1-2 hours that would wake at least one of us up for over the course of a night. I did manage to find temporary reprieve from the "beeping" for 2 nights during the middle of our trip by leaving the van unlocked but it came back seemingly unaffected by whether or not the van was locked or unlocked which is not ideal when sleeping in unfamiliar areas.

The ugly. We were informed that we could dump the black water/cassette and grey water tank at the Camping World in Fife, WA. So the day that we were returning the van, we 1 hour from North Seattle to find out that they did not have such facilities. We did manage to get lucky and find a rest area on the way back to dump both tanks. Upon returning the van, when meeting with Joe, my partner was appalled that the first thing that he commented on was not about how sorry he was about the impact that the beeping had on us or that we spent 1.5 hours driving around that day to find a suitable dumping spot but rather whether or not he saw a scratch on the side of the van. My partner at that point had to excuse herself from the situation as she was absolutely livid that a possible scratch on the side of the van was more important to him than our time and lost sleep.

Once we had time to decompress after our trip, I had texted Meghan the following:

"We feel that the $350 refund feels minimal considering the direct impact this made on our experience and daily wellbeing. 5 nights of beeping every 1-2 hours x ~13 for each event. I don't know if Joe shared this with you but the last night we had the van I had slept with the key fob in my hand so that every time it beeped and woke me up I would press the unlock button. Also sleeping at night with the doors unlocked is also a bit unnerving.

We would suggest that you and Joe think about how to make the less than stellar experience right especially when considering that we drove from Ballard to down to Fife the morning we were returning the camper van to dump the cassette tank to find out that Camping World does not have a dump station. Luckily we happen to find a rest area in Federal Way that had one. We were also not enthused that one of Joe's first comments when addressing our trip was not about the "beeping" issue but rather a possible scratch on the side of the van.

In summary. Although the faulty van from day 1 was not their fault, Meghan and Joe did not make right of the situation. We would have provided a 5 star experience IF they made it right. The fact that they didn't makes us wary of using ANY Outdoorsy van again.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing trip all over Washington and Oregon with alma, Meghan and joe are the best vanlords out there and really made us feel comfortable the whole time and had great advice and tips for us throughout both states.
