Weather can be a factor. And camping in a Sprinter doesn't mean you want to spend every minute in it. Cooking especially, is much simpler and cleaner when you can take it outdoors. It's also more fun! As an add-on, we can supply a MSR freestanding Wing to keep the sun/rain off your outdoor kitchen area. It's a little bit of a hop up to the platform bed, so we include a folding step, which can also be used as an assist for getting into the van. A small sink, hot running water, a folding counter extension and under cabinet LED strip lighting make the kitchen a functional workspace. That grey box in the lower left corner of this image is for shoes, tie-downs, and those small thingy's you are always looking for at the last minute. It also has 2 D-rings mounted to the side. We use it for securing a large camera pack. It could also be used for a backpack, or other large/heavy items you don't want flying around the cabin. The L-Channel mounted to the opposite wall, just beneath the window -has movable D-Rings so you can secure your gear.. Mercedes Sprinter 2017
The Kitchen Chuck Box gets strapped down in the full-extension cargo drawer. For light cooking on nice days, it can be used in place. However, we typically unstrap it and set up our kitchen on either a folding table we pack, or on a nearby picnic table if we happen to be in a campground. This allows the back doors to be closed, keeping out weather and bugs, and it keeps all the food prep centralized to a location outside of the van, which also helps with cleanup after meals. . Optional seating for 5, with optimal sleeping accommodations for 2. For small children, sleeping on the 3-seat bench can be an option, or for kids over about 6, we'd recommend taking sleeping bags and inflatable sleeping pads.
