Discover Willis, TX
Willis is a small town in Texas’ Montgomery County. It was originally settled in 1870 when the Union Pacific Railroad built a line through the area. Before Willis, residents lived in Danville, just north of where Willis would be located; upon the railroad's completion, many people moved from Danville and other nearby towns to Willis. In 1874, Willis applied to replace Montgomery as the new county seat but lost; legal challenges were made but were unsuccessful, until the city of Conroe was named the new county seat.
Book an RV in Montgomery County and set your sights on a vacation as limitless as the highway in front of you. The warm Texas weather makes outdoor recreation a great choice, but there’s more to this area than parks and farmland. It’s well worth a detour to explore cities like Conroe and Montgomery. Your best RV rental in Willis puts all of these within your reach.
The Great Outdoors
The Sam Houston National Forest is a 163,000 acre reserve, nestled amongst private timber reserves and small local farms. Start here with your motorhome rental in Willis and you can store your groceries as you explore both the forest and neighboring farms. Spread out amongst four counties, it is managed as a multi-use park, allowing for both recreational and commercial use. Permitted activities include hiking, along with swimming. Canoeing, kayaking and fishing are always popular thanks to the abundant waterways. Motorized boats are allowed provided they use small electric motors (not gas). Visitors can go birding, hunting and camping, and your luxury RV rental Willis makes the perfect bird blind. Hunting in the forest requires a permit, also available from the forestry service.
Lake Conroe is a popular spot for fishing and other water-based sports. Visitors can swim in the lake’s south end, but the north end of the lake has alligators. There are also bald eagles at the north end, for those who enjoy bird watching or just watching nature in general. The lake can be choppy in the middle, so water skiers are recommended to stay in the coves where the water is much calmer. Keep your Willis camper rental nearby for drying off and changing clothes when you're done;

Exploring The City
There is no shortage of things to occupy your attention in Willis, and even more offerings further out.
