The host was attentive, flexible and easy to work with. I did enjoy communicating with them. So, I'm sorry to rate the motorhome very poorly. The motorhome unfortunately was very underwhelming compared to the pictures (which aren't great anyway) and the description. It's NOT in good shape and its marketed as the Luxury Family Adventure Ready RV. Much of the interior is home-made. There is NO passenger front seat...nothing is there. One of the drivers mirror is missing. The toilet smelled terrible. The battery was completely dead and when we tried the generator, it didn't work. After texting this information, they said the generator has never worked. However, the add (at least on Facebook Marketplace) lists "Onboard generator and powerful AC for off-grid comfort." That's why we rented it. To go off the grid up into the mountains. This was terribly inconvenient. It was below half on propane and we stressed it would run out. at 45 mph, the motorhome shakes like crazy. The exhaust leak noise is also something that make us nervous. So, be careful. It might be worth renting but you need to know what you're getting. Tom

The biggest issue being the two front tires-both are cupped multiple times on the inside tread. This is not a minor issue and will lead to failure if not addressed. The second the multiple windshield cracks and chips (two in direct eyeshot of the driver). I was honestly relieved to drop it off at the end of our trip. There are many secondary issues that cause me to question your desire to provide a decent RV to use… 1. The bathroom faucet is not attached. 2. The toilet really stunk! (I have found it’s due to buildup of waste that won’t flow out at the dump.) 3. The RV wasn’t that clean-especially the floor. 4. The water pump rumbles and vibrates-I wasn’t comfortable using it-concerned it would stop working-as well as it’s drawing more power than necessary. 5. The Water, Gasoline and Propane were all low! So I had to start my vacation doing what should have been done as part of our agreement. 6. Even the passenger side window shade was missing-laying in the storage bay in the back. 7. The paint in the bathroom sink is chipping 8. The driver rear view mirror is missing it’s wide angle lense. 9. The ceiling fabric drops in front of the passenger side windshield.

Honestly, coming into this we didn’t expect it to be anything luxurious but we had many issues with the vehicle. Our first night the refrigerator struggled to remain cold and we could not get the stove to light. Admittedly the owner did tell us the sparker was dead so we had to use a physical lighter. Additionally the camper was not very clean and the sink exploded up with food and dirty dish water the first night despite the grey water tank being empty. Fortunately my husband was able to fix it and spent a good deal of time the next morning fixing all the issues. Furthermore the window frame had fallen off in the cabin previously making it easy to see into the vehicle at night. Also we knew this going in but there is no passenger seat in the front which made it difficult to assist the driver and very isolating. Also the windshield had major cracks and was missing part of its side mirror, which we were only informed of when we were given the vehicle at the airport. The host was very nice though and flexible about our pickup and drop off times which was appreciated. Overall, you get what you pay for. If you are willing to rough it while in this vehicle it is a decent option for an affordable way to do the national parks, but be warned it will be grimy.

Frequently asked questions

Q.

What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?

A.

I am open to delivery requests! Because of the nature of the surrounding area, I prefer if you check with me before booking if you will be needing delivery to the airport or outside the city of Bozeman or Three Forks. This is my full time job, so I am flexible with pickup/drop-off times.

Underhill Escapes is the dream project of a full-time RV renovator and eccentric traveler who once called a cozy little rig named The Brandywine home. After living off-grid in Alaska and adventuring through Idaho with my partner Matt (who’s also a park ranger) and our beloved pets, I transformed our RV life into a warm, shareable experience for fellow wanderers. Now, we’re opening the doors to others who crave comfort, charm, and the call of the wild. Whether you’re chasing mountaintops, sipping coffee in the forest, or curling up under the stars Underhill Escapes is here to make your stay as magical and memorable as the journey itself. I hope you enjoy your travels in The Brandywine as much as we have! Happy Travels! Marina & Matt
