Discover Magna RV rentals for memorable road trips

The town of Magna, Utah sits at the extreme southern tip of the Great Salt Lake and marks the western edge of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area. The town was formed under the name Pleasant Green in the mid 19th century as Mormon settlers spread out along the Great Salt Lake. At the beginning of the 20th century, copper mining commenced in the nearby Oquirrh Mountains and the Magna Mill was built to process it. With its construction, the town’s name was changed to sound more unique. In more recent years, Magna has become a bedroom community of Salt Lake City.

Magna is connected to the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area through an extensive bus network that can get you into the city relatively quickly. Using public transportation when you choose a travel trailer rental in Magna will save you the hassle of driving and finding parking in the city.

Additionally, when you book an RV in Magna, you’ll want to consider the location of basic services like gas stations and grocery stores. Fortunately, the Salt Lake City area is laid out between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains with Interstate 15 running between them. It’s not hard to find all the things you’ll need within a short distance of the highway as Magna sits near the intersection of Interstates 15, 80, and 215.

The Great Outdoors

When you rent an RV in Utah, one of the best things you can do is enjoy some time outside. There are the Wasatch Mountains, which loom over the Salt Lake City area and beckon hikers to climb their high peaks. Mount Timpanogos is one of the most popular due to its proximity to the city and its summit trail traversing several unique ecosystems before reaching the top of the nearly 12,000-foot-high peak. Other famous tall mountains worth climbing include Mount Nebo, Lone Peak, and Deseret Peak. Great Salt Lake State Park is also just around the corner from Magna and has some of the best views of the unique lake in addition to public boat launches to get out on the water. Kayak rentals are available from a number of sporting goods stores and specialty retailers in the Salt Lake City area. If you’re just looking for a peaceful place to spend the afternoon with the family, Manga - Copper Park on the town’s northwestern edge is a great place to do it. There’s a playground, a skate park, a few sports fields, and even a golf course nearby if you want to hit the links.

RV Parks near Magna

When you choose an RV rental in Magna, you can head to the Salt Lake City KOA, which is only a few miles from the famed Temple Square. The park offers full hookups, a hot tub, a dog park, and a swimming pool during the summer months. There’s also an RV wash if you need to clean up your RV rental after a dusty day on the road. The Pony Express RV Resort and Campground is just up the road from the KOA and offers amenities including a swimming pool, bicycle rentals, a playground, and full hookups for your Magna camper rental. Another option is the Vorwaller Homestead and RV Park in Tooele. Sites there have full hookups and some fantastic views of the vast plains south of the Great Salt Lake. If you’re only spending a couple of nights with your motorhome rental in Magna, consider camping in the parking lot of the nearby Walmart. You’ll need to ask for manager permission first, but most Walmarts are amenable to RV campers staying on a short-term basis.

Exploring the Town of Magna

Given Salt Lake City’s proximity to Magna, most of the attractions visitors will be interested in are located here. It’s also going to be where some of the best restaurants and shopping can be found, with many of them located near Temple Square and the more upscale options being near the City Creek Shopping Center. For a great city activity, your first stop should be at the Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City. The museum features exhibits delving into the rich geological and cultural history of the state including dinosaur skeletons, a planetarium, and Native American performances. For a great cultural experience, check out the Hale Centre Theater in West Valley City. There are several dramatic performances and musicals scheduled each year, so check their website for information about what’s playing during your trip. Animal lovers will definitely want to visit the Hogle Zoo on Salt Lake City’s eastern edge. They have hundreds of different species there including African elephants and rhinos. You might also enjoy the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper. They have some of the most spectacular aquatic animals from around the world here, but the facility also focuses on the unique aspects of Utah’s waterways and how they can be better protected.

We had a great trip and great experience with the camper. Everything worked perfectly, it was clean, well stocked with all the necessary equipment, and exceptionally organized. We would rent this camper again.

This van completely bailed us out. The rental we had originally booked broke a few days before we left. Orion and Kate's van completely saved our trip. We spent 9 nights in Grand Teton and Yellowstone. The van is a little dated but I think it adds to the charm of it. Mechanically the van ran very well. The power supply was more than adequate. We camped off grid the entire trip and I never saw the battery go lower than 85%. The fridge was huge and storage space was more than adequate. You do need to be plugged in to shore power to use the water heater but that was not a big deal for us. The only drawback we had was the water supply as it takes some effort to fill the 5 gallon tanks. I recently had shoulder surgery but it was still doable. Not having a shower was inconsequential as well because we just showered at the National Park campgrounds. The diesel heater was definitely one of the stars of the show as it got down to the 30's at night. I would definitely rent this unit again if we are ever up in that area.
