Even though the state parks in America keep a lower profile than the renowned National Parks, that doesn’t mean that they have nothing to offer. Twin Lakes State Park is a great example. If you’re into hiking, the park is home to an excellent trail system. Best used between March and November, Twin Lakes Park Loop is a 2.1-mile long trail that snakes its way through the park. Primarily used for running and hiking, the trail is perfect for adventurers of all abilities. Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash at all times. After taking a quick run around the trail, why not reward yourself with a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the lake. If you brought the kids along, set aside an afternoon and take them for an angling lesson. If lucky, you’ll be taking a good catch of crappies back to your Twin Lakes State Park motorhome rental for dinner. There is a boat ramp, and the flat water is excellent for beginner kayakers. Don’t worry if you do not have a boat as they do boat rentals. If you’re into stargazing or night time photography, you’ll love it here. Being a significant distance away from big towns, the light pollution here is at a minimal. Even though hunting is strictly not allowed here, the adjacent Prince Edward-Gallion State Forest allows it. There is a small gift shop, so don’t forget to purchase some souvenirs.
