Discover Point Roberts RV rentals for memorable road trips

Point Roberts is a fascinating little town in a unique location, just south of Vancouver in Canada. Known as a pene-exclave, Point Roberts is a small chunk of land owned by the United States, surrounded by Canadian territory. Due to the terms of the Oregon Treaty between England and the United States, the 49th parallel was chosen to delineate the border between the two countries. This meant the southern tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula in Canada would be part of the USA.

The town was first established in 1846 but was explored much earlier by explorers like George Vancouver from England. Point Roberts is named for Henry Roberts, a friend of George Vancouver's and a ship captain too. Despite British pleas to give Point Roberts to the Canadian territories, the US defiantly kept this inconveniently located territory despite the difficulty to get to and from it.

You can book an RV in Point Roberts, and enjoy access to both Canada and northern Washington, both of which have their own incredible natural treasures, and large metro areas.

The Great Outdoors

If you wanted to experience one of the most beautiful and scenic places in the world, Point Roberts is perhaps one of the best places you could possibly rent an RV. Between the alluring wilderness areas of British Columbia in Canada, the fabled San Juan Islands, the Puget Sound, and the mountainous wonderlands of the Cascade Mountains, there is no limit to what you can do in the glorious Pacific Northwest. Campbell Valley Regional Park is a great place to get a first taste of the area, over on the Canadian side of the international border. The park features a vast number of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, and a whole bunch of other recreation spaces to utilize while you visit. Additionally, there is a visitor center where guests may learn about the local ecology, as well as some historic structures, cabins, and an old racetrack that is no longer in active use. Down by the city of Bellingham in Washington, there are a few state parks on the shores of the Puget Sound that you can visit with the Point Roberts camper rental. Larrabee State Park is found on the Samish Bay at the foot of Chuckanut Mountain. This park has hiking trails that go to the top of Chuckanut Mountain, with surreal views overlooking the San Juan Islands and the Puget Sound. Divine, pebble-laden beaches line the water, where you can catch magical views of the sunset while strolling beside the sea. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming are excellent ways to use the park when the weather is warm. Deception Pass State Park is actually located on two of the San Juan Islands: Fidalgo Island and Whidbey Island. This incredible piece of nature is tethered together by the Deception Pass Bridge, a National Historic Landmark since 1982. This stunning park has been used for countless movie productions and is a divine place to swim, kayak, canoe, go fishing, or explore the water scuba diving. You can also camp along the water’s edge with your Point Roberts motorhome rental at the park’s campground. If you want to see some of the massive mountains in Washington, North Cascades National Park is a great place to do so. This stunning collection of wilderness areas and untouched ecosystems is over a half-million acres in size, yet it only sees a few thousand visitors per year due to its remote location. There are lots of archaeological sites remaining from the paleo-native forebears who called the area home, in addition to vast stretches of wilderness where no roads or structures exist. You can camp out nearby in the adjoining Lake Chelan National Recreation Area and the Ross Lake National Recreation Area because there are no RV-accessible campgrounds in the wild national park. There are other places in Washington you can head to like Mount Rainier National Park or Olympic National Park, but both require a fair bit of driving when you rent an RV in distant Point Roberts.

RV Parks

The campground options in Point Roberts are quite limited due to the remote location, but you should be able to find adequate accommodations for your Point Roberts RV rental by owner. Lighthouse Marine Park could be a good place to consider, with all the basic necessities and more. You can’t beat these oceanfront views and quiet beaches. Sunny Point RV Resort Park is a family-friendly park that caters to summertime vacationers in the town of Point Roberts. On-site amenities include Wi-Fi, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a large marina.

City Attractions

Point Roberts is mostly known for its remote location and its gorgeous surroundings, though there aren't a lot of attractions to be found within the city itself. There are a few pleasant places to visit nearby, like Monument Park at the international border. There are monuments erected in honor of the Treaty of Oregon signed back in 1846, demarcating the 49th parallel where the border was drawn and agreed upon. The granite obelisk is the first of many markers between the Strait of Georgia and the Rocky Mountains. Lighthouse Marine Park is another outdoor attraction in the area, all though there no actual lighthouse remains at the location. What you can find instead are some exquisite beaches, mounds of driftwood, and some camping areas where you can stay with your Point Roberts RV rental. If you really feel the urge to visit the big city, Vancouver and Seattle are viable options, although Vancouver is much closer. The VanDusen Botanical Garden, the Museum of Anthropology, and the Vancouver Aquarium are all suitable places to pass the time while enjoying a truly cosmopolitan area.

Great experience with Vincent! Communication was easy, quick, and efficient from start to finish. The camper was very well equipped and ready to go, with a full water tank, butane for the burner, dish soap, and everything we needed for a great camping trip. It made everything very easy. Highly recommended!

Amazing hosts and an incredibly hospitable home on wheels for our Vancouver Island road trip. The length and weight are not for the faint of heart, and we wished for a bit more privacy from the curtains, but otherwise, the van was clean, well-equipped, comfortable, and straightforward. The hosts were outstanding with communication before, during, and after our trip. They made our first van trip a great success!
