Hixon House

attraction La Crosse, WI
Those who have even the tiniest little spark of appreciation for history will find a trip to Hixon House in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the highlight of their trip. This historical house belonged to a lumber baron from the 18th century, and all the furnishings in the house are impeccably preserved. Instead of making use if modern methods to replicate the older furniture, the La Crosse Historical Society decided to invest in cleaning and treating the existing items to ensure a trip that is a lot more authentic. Tours through the house are docent-led, and guests can expect to have an hour and a half to two hours to take in as much of the history unfolding before them as possible. Some of the highlights on the tour include the historical facts of the family as relayed by the docent, exquisitely carved wooden furniture, a Turkish nook with exotic and priceless artifacts, and more.
