Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
This 22,000-acre park is one of the most significant natural and historic treasures in Florida. Floridas first state preserve, it is now a National Natural Landmark. There are diverse habitats that can sustain wildlife, livestock, alligators, bison, horses and more than 270 species of birds. A 50-foot-high tower near provides you with panoramic views of the preserve. Exhibits at the interactive visitor center explain the areas natural and cultural heritage. There are eight beautiful trails where you can hike, horseback ride, and bike. On Lake Wauburg you can canoe, kayak or boat and fish.
