Discover Little Falls, NY
Originally settled in 1723, Little Falls is a city accurately named to reflect its small size with respects to its population and square mileage. The town would go on to be destroyed by the Iroquois native people, rebuilt, chartered as a village, and ultimately incorporated as a city in 1895. Little Falls is nestled between two sloping mountains in a gorge, built around the mighty Mohawk River. The cascading river descends into rapids along the stretch in Little Falls, helping give the town its name.
Little Falls was once an agricultural town known for its dairy farming, as well as other products it would ship to the larger cities like New York. With the arrival of the Erie Canal, shipping goods became easier for local businesses and thus a period of prosperity was enjoyed by Little Falls. Now, this picturesque town is something out of a fairy tale, with gorgeous city streets and views of the Mohawk River. Mouthwatering aromas are plentiful, flowing from the many cafes and restaurants along the main drag, and shopping for antiques, artwork, or clothing is exciting too. With its ideal location just off of Interstate 90 between Albany and Syracuse, those who book an RV in Little Falls are captivated by the ethereal beauty of the countryside and scenery of upstate New York.
Experience the Sites and Scenery

Veterans Memorial Park is for athletic-minded people, where they can get active with the many soccer fields, basketball hoops, tennis courts, and baseball diamonds belonging to the town. Ferris Lake Wild Forest is hard to ignore since it is only 20 miles north of town. Old growth spruce trees are scattered throughout the massive forested area and rival some of the national forests in the region. Shaker Mountain Wild Forest is another place to visit with the motorhome rental near Little Falls and is only a little bit farther out than Ferris Lake Wild Forest. Hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and swimming are all possible at this scenic forest.
Silver Lake Wilderness, Siamese Ponds Wilderness, West Canada Lake Wilderness, and Moose River Plains together form one of the largest undisturbed and undeveloped stretches of land in the Northeast, with miles and miles of open land and forest to explore; there are said to be 10,000 lakes and ponds as well as 30,000 miles of rivers and streams in this region of the state.
Adirondack State Park is farther up north by the Canadian border, and offers incredible views of the fiery fall foliage changing its colors, and plenty of camping space too. Robert Wehle State Park and Sandy Island Beach State Park are two of the best places to enjoy the waters of Lake Ontario, and the magnificent beaches that line the shore. Once a private resort, Sandy Island Beach State Park is now a great place to get some vitamin D and cool off in the summertime on the 17-mile stretch of white sand beaches. There is a wealth of other places to visit when you rent an RV in Little Falls, including state parks, forests, wilderness areas, refuges, and conservation areas.
Little Falls is certainly more known for its quaint feel and peaceful vibes, so it is not the type of place to go attraction hunting. That being said, there are a few fun places to keep you occupied while you plan your next move and head to other areas. The Herkimer County Historical Society and the Little Falls Historical Society Museum are two fascinating institutions created to inform all about the history of Little Falls spanning back to before the colonists arrived. The Little Falls Historical Society Museum is in an old Greek Revival building that was built in 1833 to house a bank. Keeping with the history theme, Herkimer Home State Historic Site is the old home of a war hero, Nicholas Herkimer, who was known for leading troops in the American Revolutionary War. The best time to visit this historic treasure is during war reenactments when troops line up with ceremonial replica garb and stage fake battles for the public to watch.
