How do I charge for kilometers?

Charging for excess distance is simple through the Outdoorsy platform. If you know prior to your renters booking that they plan on traveling well over your daily allowance of kilometers.

One option is to add a package cost for the additional KMs prior to approving the booking. This way the renter is charged up front, and if they don’t end up traveling the full estimate you can refund any difference once they have returned.

If however you have not pre-charged for additional kilometres and your renter goes they you can claim the additional charge from their security/damage deposit prior to releasing it.

To do this log into your dashboard and click on “Completed Bookings” select the rental in question and click “View Details” from here you can select “Manage Security Deposit” and choose to claim a portion of it or all if necessary.
We recommend including a detailed summary breakdown in the notes section of this process so that the renter has a record of everything that they are being charged for. Once you release a portion of the security deposit it is returned immediately to the renter so please make sure that you have calculated all additional costs (outside of claims) before releasing or claiming a portion of the deposit. If the security deposit is not enough to cover the additional costs, please reach out to our support team at support@outdoorsy com or toll-free (877) 723-7232 and we will assist in charging your renter the additional cost to their card on file.
