When you first list your RV on Outdoorsy, you’ll probably be asking yourself about the amenities you ought to provide your renters. After all, you’ve probably stayed at a hotel where a warm chocolate chip cookie on your pillow or a friendly note on your nightstand really made your stay.
While you’re not actually required to provide amenities for your renters, it’s always a great idea to think about ways you can WOW your guests. In our view, RV amenities can be split into three categories: must-haves, nice-to-haves, and love-to-haves.
Remember that you’re not technically required to provide amenities for your rentals. For example, we have successful owners with pop-up tents on top of cars who require renters to bring their own sleeping bags, cooking utensils, etc.
Generally speaking though, you should offer the following amenities to your renters:
Nice to have amenities are the ones where you’re starting to go that extra mile for your renter. These can include things like:
Love to have amenities are those wonderful surprises that create a truly memorable trip for your renter.
For example, some Outdoorsy owners surprise renters with specialty kits like emergency supplies (first aid, bug spray, duct tape), coloring materials when they know children are joining, s’more kits, fire starting kits, or gift baskets for special celebrations.
If preferred, you can also charge for bundled amenities: $75 for a fully-stocked kitchen, $75 for linens (sheets, towels, pillows, blankets) for four people, and a standard $150 cleaning fee, for example.
Pro tip: Store relevant items together in large bins so you can easily move them in or out of your RV per the renter’s request. Tape a list of items to the lid, then do a review once your vehicle is returned.
