About ALEX's RV rentals

Hello, fellow adventurers! My name is Alex, and I'm a travel enthusiast who recently returned from a year-long journey across all American states, with Alaska stealing my heart. When I'm not on the road, you'll find me hiking, biking, or chasing waterfalls—basically, if there's water, I'm there! I'm also a proud parent to two Welsh Terrier dogs who are not just pets but my ultimate travel buddies. They've got more road trip experience than most humans! Having traveled most of my life, I'm thrilled to offer my RV as your next adventure hub. And if you're looking for travel tips or recommendations, consider me your personal travel guide. Can't wait to help make your journey unforgettable!

Memories made on trips with ALEX SCHAMONIN's RVs

1July 2025

- no vehicle registration was provided.
- No proper walkthrough upon pickup. A day before, he notified me that the pickup location changed from Pacific Beach to Mira Mesa. The woman that met us for the walkthrough gave us no instructions. I only notified her of two cracks in the windshield and then she said she had to go.
- DEF fluid warning light went on 5 days into the trip. We didn’t even know what this was. Nobody told us that this is something we’d be responsible for monitoring and refilling.
- The propane wasn’t full. We were never told to monitor it and ran out when we were in Yellowstone. We learned (after the fact) that we could monitor the levels on the control panel but nobody ever told us what LP was.
- Bad wiper blades. The woman who gave us the RV told me the wiper blades were bad and that I should replace them and request reimbursement.
- No Apple TV remote, TV wasn’t usable.
- Water pump stopped working on day 2. We reported it to owner and Outdoorsy. A mechanic came to us in Yellowstone and said that there was a water line leak that caused the pump to burn out. He replaced the pump and told us how to get by for the remainder of the trip. Three days later, the water pump stopped working again. Outdoorsy never sent anyone to repair it.
- Duct tape was holding the bed together. Duct tape was also holding the electrical panel cover.
Lastly, the entire hand brake was wrapped in duct tape and the brake itself was very difficult to operate. I’ll send a video showing this.
- Walls falling apart near bathroom
- The interior and the exterior of the RV weren’t clean upon pickup but because we needed to get on the road, we left and cleaned it ourselves.
- We paid for early pickup and didn’t get it.
- WiFi is spotty and doesn’t work regularly
- There was no owner’s manual for us to refer to. There was also no welcome guide with pertinent info (WiFi password, instructions for control panel, etc.)
- The bike rack wasn’t effective, causing us to lose my daughter’s bike somewhere in Wyoming.
- We paid for a late drop off and need that refunded.
- swivel captain chairs (advertised) didn’t swivel
- it said that it sleeps 6 but it only sleeps 5
- keurig coffee maker didn’t work
- storage space was full of owner’s belongings so there wasn’t enough space for our own things
- stand up paddle board (advertised) wasn’t included
- dishes were FILTHY
- pots and pans were warped and filthy
- yesterday morning, while sleeping, the lights started flickering and then there was a loud pop and the smell of smoke. After we looked at the breakers, we saw that a fuse was blown. We learned from a helpful neighbor that this was due to the awning motor not working. They also informed us that there’s supposed to be a second motor on the awning but it’s missing. We left to take our kids to the lake (while waiting for outdoorsy to send a mechanic). Upon our arrival back to the RV, the mechanic notified me that the slide out (which was fully extended when we left) had a motor malfunction because the motor on one side has pulled the slide out in, while the other motor was fine. The whole slide out was crooked. Meanwhile, the malfunctioning motor (according to the mechanic) was about to catch on fire. While the mechanic worked on the RV, tons of smoke came out from the electrical panel and the motor of the awning. He told us that it wasn’t safe to sleep in the RV so we left our kids in an Airbnb, and packed everything up in the middle of the night. To say that we were unsafe because of the owner’s negligence, would be the understatement of the year. Meanwhile, the owner tried to blame the electrical malfunction on me not using a surge protector when plugging into shore power. Nobody ever told us that we needed to use the surge protector.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING. Save yourself the trouble of booking with Alex! His posting does not depict an accurate picture of "luxury" as he advertises, he is rude and attempting to secure extra funds through random fees. First, Alex informed me 5 days before that he could not deliver the vehicle-fine. We arranged to pick it up. When I asked what time was best, he said "anytime after 11 am". No mention of an early pick-up fee. As soon as we pick it up, I get a $100 fee for early pick up. When I asked him about it and why he didn't inform me prior to, he said it was already shown in the description. There was no indication of a time on the post. There were a number of things that were nonfunctional or broken. It was also unclean as it had an odor on the inside, and from the outside it had many dirt marks and scratches. It was obvious there was little effort in the clean up prior to us using it. We had to delay our trip multiple times because of major safety hazards and inconveniences. After further inspection, we found the tires to be low in air. We had to wait for the following morning to have the tires inspected and air added. The generator was not working, leaving the passengers with no air conditioning. When attempting to resolve the issue, he was not readily available and left us with options that would have delayed our trip even more and risk us losing reservations. He never instructed us on how to use starlink, and I was unable to use this purchased feature. Alex, sent us a general youtube video on how to use the RV, and never physically inspected the vehicle with us upon pickup or delivery. Instead, he had a friend give us the keys, and instructed us to drop it off in a random residential area around his office. Alex then proceeded to charge us a late drop off fee as we struggled to find parking in a busy San Diego area. He took from my security deposit for the costs of gas and a propane refill, even though we filled the tank prior to delivery and only received it with half a tank. Worse off, he was VERY unapologetic about every inconvenience and continued to include fees. To make matters worse, he attempted to blame some damages on us and hold us financially responsible. Luckily, I took thorough videos and took photos of the vehicle and documented our conversations. We had a terrible experience and it was even more difficult dealing with all these mishaps along with traveling with two small children. I am in the middle of filing a dispute with Outdoorsy as he is not willing to work with me, and I believe his vehicle has MAJOR SAFETY HAZARDS and needs to be inspected thoroughly before another person or family rents this vehicle with him. If you do want to take this risk or have already made a reservation, demand that you inspect the vehicle together (thoroughly) and take many photos of the condition, and document this. I am honestly very confused that he has received good ratings, and only hope no other person or family has to go through these troubles.

I would have thought that a full audit of the RV to make sure everything was in working order before renting it out would have been done.
A user manual would have saved us a lot of aggregation. The photos I have attached is the list of problems with the RV. If renters don’t tell the owner about things that aren’t working how is he to know what to fix.
It did get us there and back which was great.

Alex was really great. The Delano was a perfect size for the trip we took. Had everything we needed and more. The tv and the wifi came in very handy to sneak in a little work time during some down time. Alex was super helpful and answered any questions I had right away.

This was our first time to Rv. Alex was very responsive and helpful with all our questions. He kept saying it was easy and intuitive and he was right. Rv was in great condition. Surprisingly we figured everything out and even boondocked one night. Would rent from Alex again.
