Revelstoke may be best known for its ski resort, but there are a host of other excellent outdoor attractions within easy reach of the city. One of the highlights is, of course, Mount Revelstoke National Park, found just to the city's northeast. The park boasts lush forests and beautiful mountain scenery, much of which is easily accessible for visitors. One highlight is to head for the summit to take in the breathtaking views — it's only a short walk from the parking lot — while the Giant Cedars Boardwalk Trail through old-growth forest is a must-do. Mount Revelstoke National Park also allows you to take in some of the best scenery from the comfort of your vehicle, with the Meadows in the Sky Parkway climbing 26 kilometers (16 miles) uphill. Next, you might like to steer your RV rental from Revelstoke towards Lake Revelstoke. This Columbia River lake found just to the north of the city covers more than 100 square kilometers (40 square miles) and is set against a beautiful backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Canoeing and kayaking are popular pastimes on the lake during summer, while keen anglers can try their luck at catching kokanee salmon, burbot, and a variety of trout species here. If you head south from Revelstoke and follow the Arrow Lake shoreline, you'll soon find yourself at Blanket Creek Provincial Park. This 785-acre park is a popular family holiday destination where you can indulge in a huge range of outdoor recreational activities. Highlights include hiking trails, a man-made swimming lagoon, and an adventure playground that the kids will love. Kayaking and canoeing are also popular here, while the hike to beautiful Sutherland Falls is well worth tackling.
