2019 Mercedes Sprinter Sprinter
Allow me to introduce Wayne, my beloved Sprinter Adventure Van.
Named in honor of my late father, Wayne represents the adventures we never had the chance to take together. What began as a DIY project eventually evolved into a remarkable transformation, thanks to the incredible team at FunTrail West. Dean and his crew worked tirelessly to bring my vision to life—tackling complex electrical issues, crafting custom builds, and upgrading essential components. I’m incredibly grateful for their expertise, patience, and dedication throughout the process.
Wayne is now the ultimate adventure van, thoughtfully designed for comfort, versatility, and off-grid capability. And I want to share my vision and dream with you, and I hope you will feel a sense of peace and adventure when you rent him. Thanks to the Van Capsule bump outs, he features a queen-sized memory foam mattress, making restful sleep on the road a reality. The Murphy-style bed can be converted into a desk or workspace, or folded away to create extra room for transporting larger gear. The galley kitchen includes:A 12V refrigerator/freezer
A sink with hot and cold water
An induction burner for efficient cooking
A 4-gallon hot water tank that supplies both the galley and a rear outdoor shower
For work or dining, the driver and passenger seats swivel to face their own mounted tables, creating comfortable and functional spaces.
Wayne’s electrical system is robust, including:Two 100Ah lithium-ion batteries
400 watts of roof-mounted solar
A DC-DC charger and a 2000-watt inverter
AC shore power charging capabilities
The Fiamma awning creates a shaded, weather-protected space for relaxing outdoors, while Van Essential window shades on all major openings provide insulation, privacy, and stealth. Ventilation is handled by a MaxxAir fan, paired with a sliding screen window for fresh airflow.

What began as a personal project to support Ironman training evolved into something much more. Our very first van—affectionately named IronVan—was designed and built right in our garage and driveway. The overwhelming interest and enthusiasm from friends, fellow athletes, and van life enthusiasts inspired us to launch Funtrail West: a space dedicated to helping others bring their dream adventure vans to life.
