July 20241

Well, it started when I went to pick up the trailer. The battery was completely dead, and the power hitch would not raise or lower. It took almost an hour of running my truck connected to the trailer before it would lift enough to put the hitch on.
Then, previous to picking up the trailer, we had asked what size of ball hitch was on the trailer. I didn't have a removable receiver hitch, and it had a 2" ball on it. If I needed a different size ball, I would need to get the proper size beforehand. We had the asked the renter prior to picking up the trailer what the size was. We were told before picking up and also when I was connecting the trailer it was a 2" hitch. If it wasn't, I would have either replaced the ball with the correct size or cancelled the rental.
I hooked up the trailer and took it a short distance to my house. I wasn't convinced the host was correct and measured the hitch at home. It was a 2 5/16" ball. This could have been disastrous when driving to our destination! (our wedding).
While at home changing the ball hitch, I connected the trailer to my house to charge the battery. After wasting quite a bit of time charging the trailer to actually more, changing the ball hitch, then trying to get the battery to charge, I had to call it a night and leave in the morning.
I texted the host that evening, and was told "sorry for the battery, and thanks for the information on the receiver hitch".
It was after that I saw there was a prep fee of $125, which I felt was unwarranted.
