At Ron's request I went to his place to go over the setup of the trailer the day before my trip, he didn't pull the trailer out of the carport, so it wasn't possible to open it up, therefore I was not shown how to use it or able to inspect it for damage. I did show Ron my 4 pin adaptor for the lights on the trailer, which he confirmed was compatible, yet when I came to get it the following day, fully packed and ready to go, it did not have a 4 pin adaptor. His wife had to go to the store to buy one leaving me to wait on the side of the road for an hour. Once she returned the trailer connection was so corroded it did not work and the ground wire was not connected properly. The trailer was also parked in a single traffic lane lot on a 90 degree angle with concrete all around. It took nearly an hour just to pull it out of the parking spot. Ron should have had the trailer parked on the street or literally anywhere else than the most difficult area on the property. I had to take the trailer to a hitch installation company, who were able to clean the corroded adaptor Ron had on the trailer in order to get the rear lights working. In all, this delayed our trip nearly 3 hours causing us to leave right in the middle of rush hour, adding several more hours to our drive.Ron also mentioned there'd be pots and pans to use for cooking, there wasn't, so we had to buy some. They also said there was fresh sheets for the bed, so I didn't pack any and there was none. Additionally the trailer was filthy, the floor was full of dirt and gravel, the canopy full of mold. There were cigarettes butts and it was rank of stale cigarettes smoke. The lights inside of the trailer didn't work either. Regardless, we worked with what we had and and had a fun time.We returned the trailer in better condition than what we received it in. The following morning, Ron messaged at 630 AM saying he's making a claim against our security deposit of $250 for damage to the trailer. He claimed we must have opened it by a tree, we were camping in a wide open parking lot for a baseball tournament, so this was not the case. Any damage he claims we caused, is completely ludicrous and extremely disappointing considering all of the hoops we had to jump through to even get the trailer on the road. All of which should have been done by the owner, not us.If I could file a claim to get money back, I would, we had to pay for the hitch to be fixed, a frying pan, fuses and 3 hours delayed of our trip. DO NOT RENT from this man, he is a crook.
